This room was created for the Low Poly Room assignment in the beginner's course. The only experience I've had in Blender before this was from a few tutorials on YouTube, most of which was just giving me experience using the software. After running through the beginner courses here with CGCookie, I wanted to commit to really learning modeling without tutorials.
Every object was made using some reference images found on Google or through pictures I have taken on my own. I put some time into eye-balling proportions, even though that's the least accurate way, it was the best way for me to focus on learning. My focus was to make everything feel cohesive, as if each piece belongs in the scene. I also tried selecting colors that work harmoniously, and went for a warm 'at-home' feel.
I'm happy with how this turned out as my first 'all on my own' project.
